Kathmandu – In partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Government of Nepal (GoN) are holding a “Project Completion and Lessons Learned Sharing Event'' on January 19 that showcases the key achievements of USAID’s PARIWARTAN.

The activity, implemented by International Organization for Migration (IOM), supported local-level disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) advances in each of Nepal’s seven provinces, while contributing to the GoN’s agenda of developing a resilient nation and to the UN’s Sustainable Development GoalsThe GoN’s active engagement and leadership across the federal, provincial and local levels were critical to PARIWARTAN’s success and the influence of its work on reducing disaster risks for vulnerable Nepal.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Administration and General Affairs, Mr.  Rudra Singh Tamang stated, “Through support from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, IOM developed the Disaster Risk Management Localization Manual: An Operational Training Manual for DRM Capacity Building of Local Governments in close coordination with the Government of Nepal and provided training to all 753 rural and urban palikas that reached more than 19,000 government officials.”
