As the global lead of the` Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Cluster for natural disasters, IOM has been responding to emergencies and post crisis situations. IOM started its operations in crisis response in 2008 responding to the Koshi flood and has since continuously worked in improving crisis response. In 2015, IOM swiftly responded to the devastating Gorkha earthquake that struck Nepal, providing lifesaving services to the affected populations. In 2023, IOM continued to provide humanitarian services in the case of disasters, as it happened for the Jajarkot earthquake, and has assisted the Government of Nepal in Disaster Risk Management and Governance.
